In order to commute to Sydney from Mudgee you will have to take the electric train service to Lithgow and then by CountryLink road coach through Mudgee. This tedious journey will take at least 3 hours of your time when Aeropelican flight will take you over the vineyards down to Sydney airport in less than an hour.
